covid-19 update

Dear Patient Family,

We hope this finds you and your family well.  It has been a difficult few weeks for each of us.  The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic are far reaching, and unfortunately, have directly impacted our ability to care for our Pediatric Smiles and Braces Family.

The State of Utah Health Department has posted a statewide mandate for all dental offices that has limited our ability to provide regular ongoing care for our patients.  These restrictions went into effect March 25th and are in force through April 25th.  The restrictions state that Licenced Healthcare Professionals are only allowed to treat patients that have an urgent or emergency need.  Specifically we must limit our services to patients that are experiencing pain, infection, trauma and dental conditions that put the immediate health of the Patient at risk. This applies to both Orem and Sandy locations.

Appointment Rescheduling and Billing Questions
For billing or regular appointment questions please call our current office numbers: Orem office: 801-434-5437. Sandy office: 801-571-5800.

Emergencies
The office will remain open but appointments are limited to urgent and emergency pediatric and orthodontic appointments only.  We have created a new emergency hot line to respond to your urgent care needs during this time. If you believe your child may be experiencing a dental emergency, call to speak directly with one of our doctors. Emergency Hot Line- 801-709-3060.

We are monitoring the situation daily and are in communication with other healthcare professionals and government officials to determine when it is safe to resume normal office appointments.  This is a disruption to each of us and we appreciate your understanding.  Your children’s safety is is at the core of these limitations.  Know that these regulations are being enforced by state officials and we have no option but to limit our service as we have been instructed.  We fully expect this to pass, and we will resume normal operations as soon as it is safe to do so.  If you are concerned about your child’s needs, please give us a call.

Orthodontic Questions
To our patients in active orthodontic care: If you have concerns about your current treatment, please reach out to Madison in our office.  She will help address any urgent need regarding braces.

Sincerely,

Adam Shepherd, DDS
